The 诊断医疗超声(超声波) program at the Platt 医学科学学院 is designed to prepare graduates to pursue careers in Sonography, a dynamic specialty area in the rapidly-expanding health care field. Upon successful completion of foundational coursework and a clinical externship, graduates of the program are awarded an Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) offers examinations to become a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.  To learn more about ARDMS prerequisites for examination eligibility, click here:  //www.ardms.org/wp-content/uploads/pdf/ARDMS-General-Prerequisites.pdf

What is Diagnostic Medical Sonography?

Diagnostic medical sonography utilizes high frequency sound waves to produce dynamic visual images of organs, tissues, or blood flow inside the body. These images aid physicians in their diagnosis of the patient.

Sonographers typically work closely with patients and radiologists in clinical health-care settings, including medical centers, medical clinics, and physicians’ offices.

Platt College would like to thank all of its past and present clinical externship partners

Diagnostic Medical Sonography Passage Rates Statement

Platt College launched its Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program in February 2009. The first cohort graduated in September 2011.   Graduates from a non-JRC-DMS accredited program without a Bachelors (or higher) degree are typically eligibile to sit for the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification examinations after one year of practice in the field.   Graduates from a JRC-DMS accredited program are typically eligible for the ARDMS examination upon graduation.

Specific eligibility requirements vary depending on the applicant’s background and are determined solely by ARDMS.  To learn more about ARDMS prerequisites for examination eligibility, click here: //www.ardms.org/wp-content/uploads/pdf/ARDMS-General-Prerequisites.pdf

At the time of this writing, ARDMS certification is not required for employment as a sonographer in the state of California.

Platt College’s  诊断医疗超声(超声波) program is right for you!

  • Earn your Associates or Bachelors degree, not just a certificate
  • Enrollment is limited to a small number of high-caliber students to ensure personalized attention from instructors and foster close teamwork amongst students
  • Experienced Program Directors who interact extensively with students

Graduation from the program does not guarantee entry into any career. Additional requirements may apply depending on an individual’s previous education and work experience.

What I liked best about attending Platt was the small class sizes.  The instructors are able to give each student the attention needed to succeed.  Every instructor I had at Platt was helpful and very understanding about the demands put on students in accelerated classes.  I enjoyed attending Platt.
