Platt College’s Information Technology Associates Degree helps you build the skills you need to start an exciting new career. Employment of computer support specialists is projected to grow 12 percent from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations.

The mission of Platt College’s Information Technology program is to provide students with the theory and skills to successfully pass industry-standard certification examinations, including COMP-TIA A+, Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA), and the Microsoft Network Specialist examination.

Platt College’s Information Technology program curriculum prepares the student to gain entry-level employment as an Information Technology professional and combines classroom learning with opportunities to apply theory to common real-world situations through group projects and case studies. Emphasis is also placed on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as the communication of technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Students in the Information Technology program typically do the following:

  • Installing and maintaining industry-relevant operating systems such as Cisco Network and Microsoft Systems
  • Administering server environments
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software
  • Performing administrative functions in an information technology environment

Upon successful completion of Platt College’s Information Technology program, you can expect to qualify for entry-level positions and may obtain employment in industries such as:
